Kindergarten Room

Our Kindergarten Enrichment Program is designed for the children who attend ½ day Kindergarten at Elementary Schools. The purpose of this program is to help round out your child's day. The program is geared to foster self-esteem by meeting your child's developmental needs. It is a challenging, adventurous, and inventive program that offers a flexible daily routine. The classroom environment is set up in learning centers including but not limited to: book area, writing area, manipulatives, musical instruments/creative movement, blocks, dramatic play, puzzles, computers, art, sensory/playdough, discovery (science/math), and the peace corner. Children will also spend time in our large muscle areas: our outside play yard or corridor. Hamilton Heights provides bus transportation to and from designated elementary schools in the area.

Teachers in the kindergarten room use The Creative Curriculum, by Diane Trister Dodge, to guide curriculum decisions in their classrooms. This curriculum guide is now in its 4th edition with recommendations by many well-known experts in the field of early childhood education. We have found it to be right in line with our own theory of best practice in working with young children. You will find a copy of The Creative Curriculum in our parent resource lending library if you are interested in finding out more!
